Students in Mrs. Sirobushanam's 5th grade classroom were hard at work proving they understand the concept of volume by counting unit cubes. What an engaging way to get students to practice this skill! There was 100% engagement as students worked collaboratively to practice this common core standard. |

Mr. Hazen spent a good bit of time Thursday morning talking about technology procedures and expectations. His students were so excited to finally get on the laptops! He engaged them in this process by having them chorally read the procedures. They discussed issues and reasons for each rule. Students then offered their own reasons for rules. They also came up with some other great technology no-nos! "Don't stick metal things on the screen just because it's a magnet. It can ruin he hard drive. It happened to my friend." Next they got to spend some time discussing some of their favorite apps... ...while Mr. Hazen prepared to give students their newly assigned laptop numbers. It was wonderful to hear students actively engaged in the discussion! And then they finally got to open the lids... Way to go, Mr. Hazen!
It was so nice to see teachers diving in with technology on day one! Here, Miss Smith has used her smart board and Smart Notebook to discuss class jobs with her students. In Ms. Laneback's classroom, students created and signed a procedure contract! These kids are super excited about what they will do with technology! Way to go Scales!
